We conduct thousands of analytical tests every year to make sure our products are compliant with regulatory requirements and our own high standards which are central to how we work.
Our portfolio includes many different types and formats of tobacco and non-tobacco products. A range of specialized analytical techniques are used for their assessment.
As part of ensuring we operate to the highest level and to support the development of best practice in laboratory testing worldwide, we actively participate in international method standards bodies, such as the International Standards Organisation (ISO), the European Committee for standardisation (CEN), and CORESTA (Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco). The robust, reproducible, and repeatable testing methodology that we achieve in these forums underpins our commitment to regulatory compliance for governments, and product quality for our consumers.
In addition to chemical assessment, we also conduct toxicological assessments such as in vitro tests to assess the biological effects of our products. These models have been used within the tobacco industry and elsewhere to help provide understanding on the mechanisms of product and smoke toxicity. With recent advancements in science and technology we are currently expanding our capabilities in this area, which is discussed in more detail on our Toxicology Testing page.
